Officially Diaper-Free

Mar 2013, when XX was at Ye Ye and Nai Nai house, they somehow managed to make her go diaper-free at night. When she is at home, she will shout "Mummy!!" when she needs to pee in the middle of the night, and I have to crawl to her room and assist her to get down the bed and walk to the toilet.

Now, May 2013, she has improved, she will walk to the toilet, pee on her own, walk to my room and ask me to go over to her room and sleep with her.

The effort needed to train her to go diaper-free is almost 0%. I am such a lucky mummy.

Mummy Soh has chicken pox

Unable to:
  • cuddle xx
  • sleep with xx in the same room
  • go out with xx
  • tell xx bedtime stories
  • to eat with xx
  • kiss xx
  • to go near xx
There's too many 'unable' for me to name all out.

1st 4 to 5 days were tough, I had symptoms like fever, headache, bodyache etc. And I need to have special diet, no seafood, no chicken, no egg, no dark soya sauce and the list goes on.

Between Daddy Soh and me, we have mutual agreement, to let xx stay in the same house while I have chicken pox. On weekdays, Daddy Soh will send xx to my mum's place early in the morning about 7.30am, she will go to the school between 9am to 11am and will be taken care of by either my mum or my mother in law after school. Daddy Soh will bring xx back to the contagious house at about 9.30pm and usually she will go straight to bed. On weekends, Daddy Soh will bring her to my mother in law's house or bring her out. This arrangement should minimise our contact with each other.

XX knows that I am sick, as she was told not to come anywhere near me. She was totally fine for the first few days, on the 5th or 6th day, she broke down. She couldn't understand why I cannot carry her. When I tried to explain to her, she cried and I teared. [So sad......]

Today is the 11th day, my poxy has yet to dry up totally. I truely hope xx or Daddy Soh will not contract chickenpox from me.

Her own bedroom with the new bed

24 Feb 2013 - 3 yrs old

XX has been sleeping in her own bedroom since start of this year. Proud mummy I am, all thanks to the determination of Daddy Soh. Without him, I don think I will let her do that until much older.

Ever since we moved to the new house in Punggol when she was about 1 yr plus, she slept together with us on the king-size bed. She has incredible skills of kicking people and rotating in bed when she is sleeping. Initially I find it bearable, because it was still better than me going down our bed and walk over to her when she needs me.

But as she is growing taller day by day, she took up more and more spaces between Daddy Soh and me. Especially when she loves to form a 'H' on our bed, with her legs on the face of either one of us, so finally we decided to get her a bed.

XX was really happy to go shopping for her own bed. Afer the set up of her bed, I asked her to bring all her pillows over, she did it all willingly plus she brought over our pillows as well (!!!!!), she thought all 3 of us will be shifting over to her new bedroom. That action made Daddy Soh and me laughed..........

Please go to Daddy Soh's blog for the set up of bed photos.

Getting her to sleep in her own bedroom was not as tough as what I thought it would be. I only slept in the same bedroom with her for about 2 nights. As of today, I can leave her bedroom after she sleeps. Of cos when she has bad dreams or when she needs me, she will shout "MUMMY~~" and I will quickly run over and accompany her, abt 5 times during difficult nights and non on good nights. =)

First 3 days of school @ Explorers Edu-Place

2nd Jan 2013 - 35 mths plus

1st day:
She was able to walk into the class and said bye bye to us, but with no expression.
When we picked her up, the teacher told me the following:
- She cried initially, they let her stand at one corner of the room to let her settle down.
- When asked what comes after M, N, she replied something round.
- She almost finished her bread
After we picked her up, we asked if she wants to go to school the next day, she replied "Yes" immediately, so I thought she was doing good, but who knew...........

2nd day:
She requested me to carry her about 20m before we reach the school. When we were 5m away from school, she started crying. She refused to let go of me, therefore the teacher had to carry her in by force. I saw her struggling on the floor with the teacher, the teacher wanted her to say bye bye to me but she couldnt because she was crying hard, so the teacher brought her into the classroom, so that I could be out of sight.
The feeling was so terrible, I started to feel emo for the entire 2 hours.
When we picked her up, she was smiling and the teacher told me the following:
- Cried for 5-10mins
- Finished all the bread
- Coping fine other than language barrier (Teacher spoke to her in English, but no response from her. She asked for more bread in Mandarin and the teacher got her to repeat in English)

3rd day:
Send her to school together with my mother, again requested me to carry her 20m before we reach the school. This time round I rejected her, I told her my mother will be the one sending her to school and I said bye bye. And I secretly followed behind. She was fine until 10m away from school, she started crying aloud and pulled my mother in opposite direction of the school. My mother had to carry her to the door and let the teacher took over. She was shouting "Wo yao ah ma" all the way into the classroom.
This time round my mother was the one feeling emo, I saw her taking out tissue paper to clear her nose.

Explorers Edu-Place has a Facebook account whereby they will only add parents of the current students, they will post photos and videos of what the kids had done in school. It is not real-time update, they will upload the photos usually in the afternoon for the day itself, but I truely appreciate what they are doing, at least parents roughly know what the kids are doing in school everyday.
